AIOPA - Monthly Meeting

Atlanta Inter-Orthodox Parish Association Meeting 10/29/2024

 Attendees: Fr. Christos Mars, Evelyn Kemp, Steve Sarantis, Jackie Sarantis, Amanda Johnson, and Nada Saad

 Opening Prayer offered by Fr. Christos Mars.

Fr. Christos welcomed everyone and thanked everyone for their love, help and support in making the Assembly of Bishops XIII a success!

Fr. Christos also mentioned that preparations are underway for the Pan-Orthodox Candlelight Service and Christmas Concert which will take place on Sunday, December 22 at the Annunciation Cathedral at 5pm. As of today, we have 8 choirs participating:

·      The Annunciation Cathedral Choir

·      The Annunciation Cathedral Men’s Choir

·      The Holy Transfiguration Choir

·      The Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Choir

·      The Saint Elias Choir

·      The Saint John the Wonderworker Choir

·      The Saints Constantine and Helen Romanian Choir

·      The Saint Mary’s Romanian Choir

Those from other communities who may not have full choirs, they are welcome to join the Annunciation Cathedral Choir and represent your communities. A flier will be coming soon to promote this event, but you are welcome to start talking about it from now.

Fr. Christos also mentioned that FOCUS North America will be hosting a youth retreat (Ages 12-18) at Saint Mary of Egypt OCA Parish off of Beaver Ruin with the guest speaker being Steven Christoforou on Sunday, November 17 from 2-4pm. (See attached flier).

Steven will also be offering the Homily at the Annunciation Cathedral on that Sunday Morning.

Other Parish Events:

·      The Annunciation Cathedral Philoptochos will have its annual Toys for Tots dinner on Thursday, November 7. Tickets are available to purchase until Friday, November 1 online HERE

·      St. Christopher had two very successful events with their golf tournament and annual Greek festival. Thank you to all those who supported and attended.

·      Sts. Raphael, Nicholas and Irene also had a very successful 20th Annual Greek festival. Thank you to all those who supported and attended. Their Philoptochos will have a Bazaar on November 23.

·      St. Elias also had a very successful Mediterranean Festival Thank you to all those who supported and attended. They are also working on getting ready for their Fragile Kids program which helps families with special needs children by helping them with food, toys, etc. around the holidays.

·      St. John the Wonderwork will have their annual Harvest Fair this Saturday, November 2. More information will be coming soon about eh Annual Christmas program.
