AIOPA - Monthly Meeting

Atlanta Inter-Orthodox Parish Association Meeting 11/28/2023

 Attendees:  Fr. Christos Mars, Fr. George Ascente, Fr. Gabriel Aldridge, Fr. Michael Tishal, Fr. Miladin Blagojevic, Jackie Sarantis, Garrett Klawuhn, Mat. Rebecca Myers, Elizabeth Thomas, Will H., and Borko Komnenovic

 Fr. Christos went through the events that AIOPA will be responsible for in the near future including:

·      Candlelight Service and Christmas Concert—Sunday, December 17 at 5pm at the Annunciation Cathedral. (Flier will be coming shortly).

·      Sunday of Orthodoxy—Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Annunciation Cathedral (Details to follow).

·      Pentecost Picnic—Saturday, June 22, 2024. Looking for parish to host us.

·      Hosting the Assembly of Bishops—September 28-October 2 (Details to follow).

Fr. Christos talked about the Sunday of Orthodoxy as we are looking to bring His Grace Bishop Neophytos of Nyeri and Mt. Kenya. Fr. Christos will be speaking to His Grace as to the exact availability so that everyone can have a chance to see and hear him. Additionally, he mentioned that His Grace will be fundraising for his mission and that we should all be prepared to offer monetary gifts for the mission. More detail to come in 2024.

Fr. Christos also went through the things that will be expected of the parishes to help in hosting the Assembly of Bishops with more information to follow as he receives it.

Mat. Rebecca spoke with us about two events that Loaves and Fishes will be working on during this Christmas season. She explained the importance of the programs and how they have benefitted the surrounding community. Additionally, we are all invited to assist with the programs.

December 16—Toy and food box program.

December 25—Christmas Day meal will once again be served.

Fr. Christos mentioned that there will be NO MEETING in December and that we would once again get together on January 30, 2024. He wished everyone a blessed Nativity and Theophany seasons and looks forward to the upcoming year.
